William loved to juxtapose the seeming opposites of nature. At first glance, we see the autumn colors harmoniously contrasted with blues and greens, yet soon we discover the statue of Jizo Bosatsu quietly standing among them. As an earth deity, he calmly points us to the unfolding cycle of nature. William positioned him almost at the center of this composition, thereby emphasizing the healing power of earth.
