At a first glance, we only see nature—green leaves and the sensual tree trunk in the left foreground with its thin branches extending across the frame. Yet, soon we come to realize that there is a stone statue of Jizo Bosatsu in the middle ground. He seems to be content and one with nature, which is only natural since he is also known as Ksitigarba (Earth-Womb). We can see the two branches embracing his silent yet powerful spirit.
