Compared with A-101, this image was taken slightly closer to the Phoenix Hall of Byodoin Temple. This garden was laid out in a way to create peace and harmony between the natural and the man-made. William always admired this aspect of Japanese culture. The bright red azaleas in the foreground complement the Phoenix Hall on the far shore in the distance. It is beautifully reflected in the still water, encouraging us to calmly reflect on our own lives.
