In Kyoto, one realizes that many famous persons once walked, talked, and lived throughout its long history. While some are pure legend, others are not. It is said that the famous waka poet, Ono-no-Komachi, spent her later life here. She may have been inspired to write her short poems by quietly standing on this wooden veranda looking out to the rich shades of greens in the garden.
