This land of cultivated rice fields was bought by the Japanese government in 1964. In this image, we can especially appreciate the rhythm of alternating greens and bright golden yellows. The gentle, sensual curve of the rice field continues until it disappears in the distance. The horizontal 8×20 format is a perfect medium to guide our eyes though this landscape. The fine detail of the large negative renders the maturing rice plants to appear almost like velvet.
