Hoshun-in, a sub-temple of Daitoku-ji, was founded in 1608 by Gyokushitsu-Sohaku. The stone wash basin (tsukubai) and a portion of a stone bridge in the foreground from a solid foundation for this composition. Due to the angle of the reflection of the trunk in the water, this tree seems to grow straight out of the stone. In this photograph, people enjoy the graduation of orange tones above the stone wash basin.
