The angle in this image shows a striking contrast between the geometric patterns of the sliding shoji doors with the organic, bright and vivid greens of the garden. The sharp, straight lines are softened by the round shapes of nature. Nature is also inside, represented by a painting of a pine tree on the fusuma in the background. This angle is chosen so that one of the diagonal lines of the bottom of the wooden partition coincides with the edge of the engawa outside, unifying the composition.
