This is the vertical version of the red Nokyo-do that can be seen in Y-41, but taken from much closer distance. William used to say, “Get closer!,” because when we get closer to an object of interest, it starts to communicate with us. While the horizontal, panoramic version of this scene allows us to feel the vastness and depth of space, in this image, the steep rock cliff is more prominent and we can appreciate the interesting lines on its surface. If you look closely you may able to see that the lines create a human profile, and the sacred Nokyo-do seems like a little hat.
