There are many intricate shapes, patterns, and lines present in this image due to its unique perspective. However, we do not feel overwhelmed because William’s composition is clear, emphasizing the quietness of the garden through two main openings. We can feel its depth through two slightly layered frames; you can see the gardens individually, or as a continuous whole when you pull back. The three tea bowls placed next to the red carpet echo the greens and the gray stones in the garden. Perhaps we will fill them with our imagination and inspiration.
